It’s time again for us to choose the most scenic private RV parks in the entire US. Last years winners have been excluded from this year’s selections so that we could show some different campgrounds some love. Here are this year’s winners in no particular order.
USA’s Most Scenic Campgrounds in 2017
Beaver Dam Campground
How does a 20-acre, spring-fed pond doing for “scenic”? We think it does pretty well. We’re not alone, The National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds chose Beaver Dam Campground as its “Small Park of the Year” in 2015. Location wise, the park is far away from the discord of traffic but still less than 30 minutes from beautiful southern Maine beaches. It’s also pet-friendly.
Junipers Reservoir RV Resort
With over 6,000 scenic acres to explore near Lakeview Oregon, this RV resort was an easy selection. While hiking, campers will encounter mountains, lakes, rivers, beautiful forests, and even a desert. You’ll want to bring your fishing pole, as Junipers Reservoir contains rainbow trout and yellow-bellied catfish. Bird watchers won’t be disappointed either.
Normandy Farms Campground
This gigantic campground not only includes panoramic views of the adjacent Foxboro State Forest but also has every type of recreational facility you could imagine. It has a(n) fishing pond, fitness center, 18-hole disc golf course, basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court, soccer field, softball field, bike park, and recreation lodge–to name a few. The lodge is 20,000 square feet and includes a sauna, pool, wellness center, jacuzzi, and adult lofts.
Hoquiam River RV Park
This riverside RV park in Grays Harbor, Washington It’s also within 40 miles of Olympic National Forest, Hoh Rainforest, and Lake Quinault. The park itself is home to wildlife like bald eagles and Roosevelt elk, and Hoquiam River is great for kayaking and fishing. It’s near the alluring beaches of Ocean Shores.
Ocean Lakes Family Campground
Ocean Lakes is a mega park located at the south end of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina featuring 859 campsites on 310 oceanfront acres, making it the largest campground on the east coast. Its mile of sumptuous beachfront is kept pristine despite the park servicing over 30,000 guests a year. Being as large as it is, the campground’s list of amenities is too large to include in totality, but highlights include a game center, a mini-golf course, and family fun center.
The Springs at Borrego RV Resort and Golf Club
Borrego RV Resort offers some of the best stargazing in the entire country. It’s also surrounded by beautiful purple mountains, Anza-Borrego State Park, Cleveland National Forest, and Joshua Tree National Park (maybe you’ve heard of it?). The resort’s onsite recreation center includes a swimming pool, natural mineral baths, a workout room, and more.
Lassen RV Resort
Located not far from Redding, California, Lassen Volcanic National Park, and Ash Creek Wildlife Area, this RV resort offers spectacular views of nearby Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen. It has 68 acres of peaceful, winding trails away from the noise of California highways.
Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory
Butterfield RV Resort is situated on sprawling desert plains beneath expansive night skies in the small town of Benson, Arizona. You won’t be surprised to hear that the stargazing here is phenomenal. The Observatory at Butterfield, open to all guests, features a Meade LX-200 GPS 16 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and is housed in a 15 feet diameter dome. It also hosts free star shows led by resident astronomers every night.
Spokane RV Resort
Here you’ll be treated to rolling green hills, lakes, rivers, and trees, all framed by a mountain backdrop and dazzling sunsets at dusk. This 5-star RV resort is home to a well-landscaped 18-hole golf course that features a grill and sports bar. While hiking nearby trails you can enjoy the area’s rich natural habitat, free from city cacophony.
McCall RV Resort
McCall RV Resort in Idaho is less than four miles from lovely Payette Lake and Ponderosa State Park. The 5,330-acre lake of crystal clear glacial water was created by a glacier over 1,000 feet high and eight miles long. Ponderosa State Park encompasses over 1,000 acres and includes miles of hiking trails through unspoiled wilderness.
